Mariya Zayats
Mariya Zayats, Member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Children and Youth Committee – plans, prepares and conducts children and youth social events and educational programs.
Mariya was born in Western Ukraine and came to the USA in 2001 with her husband Ihor and their three sons. In 2006, they got a beautiful addition to their family when their daughter was born.
Currently, Mariya is a part time student at the Community College of Allegheny County where she studies nursing. She also fills very passionate about helping Ukrainian children and youth in the area to keep their Ukrainian traditions and love for their native country.
Her determination to keep Ukrainian culture alive among people of Ukrainian descent helped Mariya to form the “Chervona Kalyna” - an amateur group of Ukrainian Americans from the Pittsburgh area that perform at various Ukrainian occasions and churches in Western Pennsylvania.
Mariya is also a member of the Ukrainian – American Citizens’ Club of Carnegie and the Head of Cultural and Media Committee of the New Ukrainian Wave – Pittsburgh Chapter.
Mariya and her family live in Carnegie area.
