Michael Walters
Michael Walters, Member of the Board of Directors
Michael was born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He is descended on his mother’s side from Ukrainian immigrants who came to the United States from Galicia in 1912, and is indebted to his family for his close identification with his Ukrainian heritage.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, having earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Japanese Language & Literature and English in 2004, followed by a Master of Arts in Asian Studies in 2007. He also attended the Kudan Institute for Japanese Language and Cultural Studies in Tokyo, cementing a lifelong fascination with Japanese culture. He currently works in grants administration for Pitt’s Department of Health Sciences.
Mike lives in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood, and is a member of St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
